Casey Stoner to retire from MotoGP in 2012

Two time world motorcycling champion Casey Stoner has stunned motorsport fans by announcing he will retire at the end of the 2012 season. The 26-year-old Australian (who was leading the MotoGP standings at the time), made his announcement at a news conference ahead of the French Grand Prix. Video above sourced from ABC News.

“After a long period of thought and numerous discussions with my wife and family, I have decided to stop competing at the end of the season,” said Honda’s defending champion. Casey will be remembered as a fearless, talented and exemplary athlete!
